Sunnyvale public safety dispatchers honored by county Award-winning dispatchersFour Sunnyvale public safety dispatchers were honored April 6 at the Santa Clara County Public Safety Communications Managers Association’s annual awards program. The event recognizes dispatchers from each agency in the county.Josie Silva was named Dispatcher of the Year and recognized for over 30 years of service. Millie Kim was named the Ramona Raymond Pillar of Inspiration for her willingness to  help with projects, presentations “and anything to promote the 911 profession.”Catalina Cruz and Amber Martinez were jointly honored as Emergency Medical Dispatchers of the Year. 13-year-old girl, mother killed in Oakland shooting; suspect arrested OAKLAND — A 13-year-old girl and her 44-year-old mother were killed and a 12-year-old girl was wounded in a  shooting Saturday night at an East Oakland apartment, and the woman’s boyfriend was arrested as the suspect, authorities said.Two other children — an infant and a 7-year-old girl — and another adult were not injured, authorities said.The names of the two killed and the 46-year-old suspect have not yet been released by police.The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday in an apartment in the 9500 block of Birch Street.Authorities said the 44-year-old woman and the suspect had been in a relationship for more than a year.  Authorities said they have a 1-year-old daughter together.Police said some kind of dispute happened between the  44-year-old woman and the suspect in a bedroom which led to her being fatally shot. Saratoga High School sophomore tapped for National Honor Choir Singing her praisesSaratoga High School sophomore Diya Iyer has had a productive year as a vocalist. She was selected for the American Choral Director’s Association National Honor Choir, which performed in Cincinnati in February. Iyer was one of 30 sopranos chosen for the choir from an overall pool of more than 4,000 applicants.She also performed at Carnegie Hall in March and was a finalist in the American Protégé International Vocal Competition, where she sang at the Winner’s Recital. (KRON) – A traffic stop led to the discovery of thousands of dollars worth of stolen cosmetics from Walgreens on Wednesday, according to the Daly City Police Department. Hit-and-run collision leaves one with life-threatening injuries Shortly after 7:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near Mission Street and Templeton Avenue.
